Inside the Experience
Nestled in the heart of San Diego at 10428 Clairemont Mesa Blvd, Kaki Sushi stands out as a quietly confident gem in the local sushi scene. From the moment you step inside, the understated decor and tranquil atmosphere set the tone for an experience that centers purely on the quality of the food. What truly draws me back time and again is their masterful approach to sushi – fresh, well-crafted rolls that elevate simple ingredients into something memorable.
The hallmark of Kaki Sushi lies in its balance: generous portions of impeccably fresh fish paired with perfectly textured rice and thoughtfully chosen toppings. It’s a rare find where the assembly respects each component’s flavor and texture, resulting in rolls that are both satisfying and refined. Whether you’re devouring a classic roll or exploring their seasonal specials, the freshness and quality shine through in every bite.
What also resonates is their approachable pricing, especially during happy hour. Kaki Sushi makes great sushi accessible without compromising on standards – a feat few can claim in San Diego’s competitive sushi landscape. From lovers of traditional sashimi to those seeking creative rolls, this restaurant caters reliably to diverse palates, making it a go-to spot in the neighborhood and beyond.
The service complements the food seamlessly: attentive, warm, and efficient without feeling rushed. Staff engagement adds a personal touch that enriches the overall dining experience. Parking, while sometimes challenging upfront, is always manageable with convenient side lot options, ensuring ease alongside enjoyment.
After tasting their offerings – from robust rolls to comforting sides like curry, udon, and gyoza – I can confidently say Kaki Sushi delivers on promise and quality. It’s a place where freshness meets craft, wrapped in a cozy setting that invites you to unwind and savor each mouthful. This hidden gem is undoubtedly a rising star among San Diego’s sushi eateries, and it’s only a matter of time before it garners wider recognition. For anyone serious about sushi without the fuss, Kaki Sushi is a must-visit.
“ Hidden gem sushi restaurant in San Diego. Very reasonably priced and dishes that taste delicious. Humble decor and quiet restaurant. No waiting on Sunday lunch. I expect that this place will become very popular in the near future. ”
“ Cute and cozy, food and service is very good. Prices are great - especially compared to any other sushi in Tierrasanta. Keep up the good work, my new go-to sushi in town as of June 2023. Update March 2024: keep an eye out for the specials, and save some money on good options. Update June 2024: restaurant will be closed last couple weeks of June and will reopen July 11. ”
“ Really good quality rolls at a good price. The fish and ingredients were fresh and the rolls were well made. Honestly better than any place I’ve had on Convoy or Mira Mesa when it comes to just sushi rolls. This neighborhood spot is a hidden gem and we’ll definitely be back. ”
“ I live in LA and rarely come to San Diego - maybe once every several months just to visit some friends there. I came across this restaurant on Yelp while my friends and I were craving for sushi. At first, we were questioning whether the food at this place is good or not since it just opened not long ago. I decided to give it a try so my friends and I came at dinner time and surprisingly the entire restaurant was fully occupied. As soon as I stepped in, the waiters immediately greeted me in Japanese dialog (I recognized because I was familiar with some Japanese dialog from my friends) :D I looked at the menu and the price is very decent (nowadays in San Diego, it is very difficult to find an inexpensive Japanese restaurant) and not only that, the menu is clean & looks attracting. I personally love crawfish and I barely see any Japanese restaurant that sell crawfish roll but yes to this place. I ended up ordering crawfish roll - the roll is delicious, rice is cooked right (not too dry but not too wet), crawfish taste fresh and chewy. I finished my dinner with a scoop of red bean ice-cream :D very satisfied. Guess, how much I spent? I will leave this question unanswered and let you guys find out. Trust me, I spent very LITTLE on this meal. I am VERY HAPPY and definitely WILL COME BACK when I re-visit San Diego. ”
“ Its really awesome restaurant. The staff are really nice. I strongly recommend you guys should try. ”
